CREATIVE MINDS OF FILIPINOS
We haven’t answered question #11 because we thought that it’s a part of the question in this reflection paper.
But if I’m going to answer it, I prefer films over rock music; and when it comes to films, I like more of the romantic-themed movies especially those films written by Nicholas Sparks.
Just like in Philippine TV, I see programs with romantic themes like in the movies that I prefer or choose to watch.
Examples are, the remake of “Mula Sa Puso,” the comeback of the prodigal son, Richard Gomez, who starred in “Walang Hanggan” and the likes.
But of course, I don’t like to be bias.
Action movies are now much-awaited by its fans. Especially with the comeback of “Asiong Salonga: The Kingpin Story” shown last Metro Manila Film Festival.
Another theme seen both in television and film is the hard work of a mother for her children. A good example of this in the film industry is “A Mother’s Story” and in television is an episode I have watched last night in Maalala Mo Kaya (MMK); both of which are Pokwang’s lead role.
I would also like to point out films and programs that showcases beautiful love stories that end up having third parties; mistresses to be exact. On film, we have my favorite (because of the lines of the actors in the film, “No Other Woman,” starred of course by Anne Curtis as the other woman of Derek Ramsay. And in television, I think that a concrete example is “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin” in GMA starred by Michelle Madrigal as the mistress.
Another theme that I have put to mind is the “best friends turned to lovers” theme. An example of this would be the movie of Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson entitled, “Paano Na Kaya?”, and Julia Montez with Coco Martin in ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida, “Walang Hanggan.”
The themes that I have cited are just a few of the themes that are showcased in films and programs at present time.
But that’s exactly the point! These are only few and there are a lot more. It just shows how creative and talented Filipinos are! J
