I know you guys can relate on this. Also, you can learn something on this video. According to innocentvictims6 , she said "This video analyzes the journalistic ethics of using social networking sites as news sources, as well as the quality of news content. It was created by Lindsay Cooper, Julie Mansmann, Vincent Seibert, and Mika Iwakari for Professor Good's Fall 2009 Media Ethics class at SUNY New Paltz."

ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting video. This is how I see the media at present, like what I've defined the media and democracy in class last meeting that media is sometimes the one making the problem instead of solving them. Yes, media's job is to disseminate information to the public to help them and not the other way around, but they abuse it most of the time. Like what the video stated, there are two types of news, the "need to know" and "want to know". Nowadays, "want to know" is the one which is mostly used by media specifically the TV and Radio, because they think it's more appealing to the public.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the case of social networking sites being the sources of news, people at present are hooked up in different social networking sites that’s why most of us are getting the news from it and many of us are posting our own insights or what we want to say or show on the site, not considering the fact that it will be open to public. Some are intentionally posting to spread rumors, because compared to the other media, we are freer to spread anything on the internet because we have no boss but ourselves unlike the other media, and in the internet everyone can post anything they want. This is our problem at present, though internet brings a lot of advantages to people, it also brings disadvantages.
